Therapy for Women
What is it like to be a woman today?
Oh, no, now you gone and done did it!!
You’ve asked the question giving a lot of women today periodic and unexpected fits of rage, despair, and empowerment-fueled states of hopefulness.
Nope, we’re not bipolar, we’re just processing years and years of bull*%@# and it’s coming out all funny.
You’re not alone.
Are we more powerful than we ever thought we could be? Are we as crazy as we’re sometimes made out to be?
And what do all these powerful social movements taking place look like in our individual lives?
You’re not alone if you’re feeling sad, angry, or confused!
You’re a woman in the midst of some very powerful, larger-scale paradigm shifts.
There’s a lot of fear swirling around, but there’s also an amazing amount of opportunity in front of us.
We’re in this together.
We can do therapy as fellow women. I’m swimming in the same sea of change and exploration, so we can be in it together.
I won’t project my experience or agenda onto you. I know we’re each unique and our experiences are nuanced and complex.
I’ll be genuinely curious and caring, because I share the journey of figuring out what being a woman can mean to us as individuals.
The Work of Exploring Feelings
As you dive in and explore who you are and how you’re experiences as a woman have contributed to the unfolding of your life, there are going to be a bunch of feelings to work through.
That work becomes so much easier when you feel safe, accepted, and free to explore with someone who can relate to what you’ve been through—both personally and professionally.
Welcome… you’re safe here.
Personal Power out of Emotional Chaos
When internalized emotional chaos becomes concentrated personal power, amazing things happen.
So many women feel worn out…
Pulled in too many different directions…
Inadequate and fearful…
Anxious in the workplace…
Misunderstood in relationships…
Not attractive enough or in the right ways…
I love working with women to unpack these toxic self-perceptions and negative experiences.
It’s a beautiful thing when the fog starts to lift and a confident woman with a sense of purpose emerges!
Challenges Bringing Women to Therapy
These are just some of the women I work with in my office:
Women seeking help after getting out of relationships they didn’t realize were abusive or undermining their worth.
Women who need to heal and are choosing to no longer minimize their traumas.
Women who are tired of hating their bodies or repressing their sexualities.
Women adapting to marriage, divorce, changing careers, and raising children.
Women jumping back into the dating scene and trying to figure out what they’re looking for in a partner.
Women wanting to express their needs to others more effectively without feeling weak, less than, or overwhelmed by anger.
Women wanting to feel seen, heard, understood, valued, and respected.
Redefining What It Means to Be a Woman
Can you do this?? Abso-freaking-lutely!!
Identity is fluid if you want it to be. We all possess feminine and masculine traits, and we can call on them however we choose.
Most women are handed a “woman suit” to wear when they come into the world, and we put it on because it’s what we’re told makes sense.
But, what if there aren’t any rules and we can step into whatever suit we choose?
I’d love to hear your story.
The quickest path to strength is vulnerability.
Women tend to inherently be pretty good at getting vulnerable, especially when they feel safe.
If you’re willing to get vulnerable, I’ve got the safe space for you!
Let’s work together to heal past hurts, identify your wants and needs, set meaningful intentions, and take purposeful action.
